Q & A

Your name: Jillian Riscoe (Vocalist) and Daniel Mendala (Guitarist)

Where are you from? Somewhere in Oz (Kansas City, MO)

Name of band: (if applicable) Red Velvet Crush

Who else is in your band? (if applicable) x

How would you describe yourselves and your music? We’re both involved in everything music related and creative 24/7. Currently in the beginning phase of our debut album but it’s pop/rock..pop with an edge..we also love the acoustic, singer/songwriter aspect too..

Who are your main influences musically? We’re influenced by so many different genres and love so many styles. I, (Jillian) grew up listening to 50’s/60’s doowop, Motown, 90’s pop music and country and Daniel grew up with bands like Simon and Garfunkel, old school country, 80’s hard rock and glam metal. We’re exploring new sounds for the new album which is always exciting…a new, expanded era for us as musicians and performers.

What do you hope to achieve in music? To sustain ourselves off of being musical, creative individuals. To tour, tour, tour. To consistently grow as musicians, songwriters. To always think outside of the box and give our listeners the feeling of being able to have second chances and do great things in their own lives. To create both dynamic and creative albums and stage shows/performances. There are so many individual goals in what we’d like to achieve in the music world and we just keep pushing forward, working hard in doing what we love; having “passion and heart” as Daniel says.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why? There’s been many…We love what we do and work hard; it’s exciting and humbling when those “highlights” occur – some for us have been getting our music played on many FM and online radio stations, winning not only one but four music awards in a little over a year, playing main stage at the prestigious NAMM trade show convention in California and so much more.

And what’s the moment you want to forget? I fell off a stage recently because of a shotty step unattached to the actual stage and a slippery floor…Had some lovely black bruises and I can say we won’t be booking at that particular venue anytime soon.

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why? That’s a tough question but I will personally say our song, “Monster.” We had our debut music video done to that song and it’s ultimate message…”Face your fears.” We want our listeners to face their fears, to have that second chance, to have hope and belief that they can make dreams become realities.

Where can we find out more about your music? (Facebook, Twitter, official site, iTunes link, etc – all and as many as possible are welcome) RedVelvetCrushMusic.com <=== You can find all of our social media links and more on our official website

Do you have any upcoming shows or news that you’d like to share? We have shows and various endeavors for 2015 we’ll be excited to share when we can; we are in the beginning phases of working our debut full length album, tentatively to be released late spring or early summer 2015.

Anything else you’d like to say about your music that I forgot to ask? Dreams to Realities
